Apparel Retailers & Makers Received Outstanding Achiever’s Award at 6th Kolkata Garments Expo 2023

Metiabruz, a small town located in the eastern part of West Bengal on the banks of the Hooghly River is a goldmine – underrated and misunderstood locality near Kolkata and a significant industrial hub of West Bengal. Its proximity to the port and river navigation allowed growth of refineries, chemical, sugar and pharmaceutical businesses. Metiaburuz – Bangla Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Traders Welfare Association (BRGMTWA), with major apparel makers as its members, have preserved its century long apparel manufacturing legacy and became one of major local job creators as well as revenue earners for West Bengal, at a time when West Bengal desperately needs to create mass jobs and business earnings.

Like every year, Metiabruz Readymade Garments Manufacturers Association organized its 6^th Kolkata Garments Expo 2023 during 27-28 July 2023 in Kolkata where buyers, showroom owners, garment traders and wholesalers from East India participated. The 6th Kolkata Garments Expo 2023 features an impressive lineup of renowned personalities and industry experts, who have significantly contributed to the growth and advancement of India’s garment and fashion industry. The prestigious “Outstanding Achievement” award was conferred on 28^th July to recognize the exceptional contributions and relentless efforts of these visionaries. The esteemed awardees include:

While delivering his Opening Remarks, Jb Alamgir Fakir, Secretary of Metiaburuz Readymade Garments Manufacturers Association (BRGMTWA) stated that local business leaders need to think big and set bigger targets in order to create thrust for growth. Metiabruz should cater to new markets and also explore export potentials in the Middle East and Africa. Vice President Jb Shajahan Ali Molla in his remarks said that metiabruz apparel makers have learnt the skills traidionally from their parents in generations. The time has come that they need to learn modern management techniques, the latest technology, and other business skills. Export opportunities and government support can multiply the outcomes.

The expo is not only a celebration of fashion but also a platform for participants to explore business collaborations, partnerships, and networking opportunities. It features a diverse array of exhibitors, ranging from established fashion houses to emerging designers and manufacturers, presenting their latest collections and innovations to an eager audience.

Metiabruz – Bangla Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Traders Welfare Association (BRGM&TWA) is an industry body of readymade garment manufacturers, exporters and traders from Metiabruz, which plays a significant role in the country’s economy. Since decades, the association has been working towards promoting the growth and development of the industry, addressing common challenges, and advocating for the welfare of the industry stakeholders.
