Metiaburuz- Bangla Readymade Garments Manufacturers Association (BRGMTWA) in Kolkata, the Expo will bring buyers, showroom owners, garment traders, and wholesalers from East India, and this Expo will also honour leaders from the sector during a Seminar on Friday.
The 6th Kolkata Garments Expo 2023, organised by Metiaburuz – Bangla Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Traders Welfare Association (BRGMTWA) commenced today in Kolkata. Members of the Association will showcase their latest fashion products during the two-day expo, where thousands of buyers, showroom owners, garment traders, and wholesalers will visit. The association will honour some select leaders who have made significant contributions to the textile and garments sector and show a discussion on ‘Connecting Bengal Garment Manufacturers with Global Supply Chains’ during 4 p.m.–6 p.m. on Friday, July 23, at The Meadows Hall, PC Chandra Garden, Kolkata.
The apparel and textile industry in India contributes 5% to the country’s GDP, 7% of industry output in value terms, and 12% of the country’s export earnings. India is the sixth-largest exporter of textiles and apparel in the world. India’s exports of textiles and apparel are expected to reach $100 billion in the next 5 years, growing at 11%. Metiabruz is playing a significant role in promoting West Bengal’s and India’s rise in the sector.
While thanking buyers for coming and making it a success, Jb Alamgir Fakir, Secretary of Metiaburuz – Bangla Readymade Garments Manufacturers Association (BRGMTWA) said that such an expo helps large showrooms and wholesalers to see the latest trends and plan for the upcoming festivities. Association President, Mr. Nazrul Islam Mollah was present and welcomed guests. Vice President Jb Shajahan Ali Molla said that about 2 million people directly and over 20 million indirectly benefit from the Metiabruz readymade garment market. Export opportunities and government support can multiply that.
