India’s target to achieve net zero by 2070 announced at COP26 for Viksit Bharat @2047, gives special responsibility to the Indian corporates (Inc.). Corporate’s ESG strategy, waste management rules (EPR, green credits, etc.) and other environmental compliances are playing pivotal roles towards decarbonization and re-greening. Competitive pressure and investor demands are pushing companies to do better. To facilitate the much-needed discussion, Policy Times Chamber of Commerce in association with RLG India as Title Partner is organizing the 3rd Edition of Sustainability Summit 2024 on the theme of Mission Net Zero for Indian Inc. during 9am-5pm on Wednesday 12th June 2024 at India International Centre (IIC) Delhi.
Amid the rapid population growth, climate change, a horrible trend of natural resources’ depletion, the concept of sustainability is blessing in disguise of a better tomorrow for our future generation.
India aims to reduce the emissions intensity of its GDP by 45% by 2030, compared to 2005 levels and the country has pledged to meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewable energy by 2030.
Sustainability encompasses an array of aspects including integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into the Indian Incorporations. Taking the course forward, India announced a target to achieve net zero emission status by 2070, At COP26. As one of the fastest growing economies in the world, India’s target is crucial for meeting international climate goals. Corporate entities, being responsible for around half of total energy consumption, are expected to play a vital role in India’s journey towards decarbonization. The Indian corporate sector has gone extra miles to reduce emissions in the face of competitive pressure and investor demands. However, absence of globally recognized standards, lack of a clear policy framework and nascent state of some key technologies makes the path to Net Zero for corporates inherently opaque and uncertain.
Encapsulating all those aspects, the upcoming gathering is all set to herald a conducive atmosphere for making Indian Corporate World the leader in steering India’s net-zero mission by setting globally recognized standards. The conference will also ponder upon the scope for a clear policy framework to the benefits of the stakeholders as a whole.
With over 150+ participants cutting across various spectrum such as academia, industry leaders, government officials, researchers and other stakeholders are participating in the event representing a rainbow of demographic denominations. The Event is going to witness the presence of RLG India as the Title Partner and GRC India, Green Roots, Gem Enviro, Technogreen, Mishra Traders, Waste Pro Recycling as our Supporting Partners.
